Education Week, Support Professionals Resolutions

The Granite Board of Education has signed two resolutions for the month of November honoring educators and the employee groups that support schools and students.

American Education Week Education Support Professionals Day

Brockbank, Matheson, West Valley Boundaries

The Granite District Board of Education is considering a boundary change to move West Valley Elementary from the Brockbank Junior High School boundary into the Matheson Junior High boundary. The purpose of this move is to relieve crowding at Brockbank and better utilize the available space at Matheson. Please view the boundary presentation below.

Silver Hills Elementary Boundary

	The board of education is also considering a boundary change for Silver Hills Elementary School and creating a boundary for the new Diamond Ridge Elementary School. Below, you may view a presentation that describes this boundary proposal.

Board Opposes Passing Tax Funds to Charter Schools

On September 16, 2008, the Granite District Board of Education voted unanimously to not support the transfer of district funds to charter schools. Read the complete position statement here .

Proposed Statewide Testing Changes

A governor’s blue ribbon panel has proposed substantial changes to the types of tests and assessments for all public school students in Utah. The changes may impact classroom instruction and diploma requirements. You can view information about the proposed changes here.

What Counts

In October 2007 the Granite District Board of Education began hosting a series of community forums throughout the district. During these open meetings held in schools, parents, patrons, and other citizens were invited to speak and leave written comments to the board.
